Lord Surya (the Sun God) is the most directly visible deity — the source of light, life, and energy for all living beings. He is the soul (Atman) of the universe in Vedic tradition. Surya worship (Surya Upasana) is among the oldest of all Hindu practices, predating even the Puranic period. This aarti praises the Sun in his various aspects.
Jai Kashyap Nandan, Om Jai Aditi Nandan,

Jai Kashyap Nandan.
Arghya det nit praatah, kamal pushp haatha,
Safal karo meri seva, he jag ke naatha.
Jai Kashyap Nandan.
Surya Dev ki aarti, jo koi nar gaave,
Dukh daridra mit jaave, sukh sampatti paave.
Jai Kashyap Nandan.
Victory to the son of Kashyapa! Om, victory to the son of Aditi!
Destroyer of darkness in the three worlds, sandal-paste on the hearts of devotees.
Resplendent on a chariot drawn by seven horses, bearer of one wheel (the solar disc),
Remover of sorrow, bestower of happiness, cleaner of the impurities of the mind.
Worshipped by gods, sages, and the learned ones, creator of the world,
Your glory is infinite, beyond understanding and beyond measure.
Of gentle and exceedingly beautiful form, resting in the solar disc,
Beautiful as a lotus flower in bloom — I bow, I bow to your name.
I offer arghya (water oblation) daily at dawn, holding lotus flowers in my hands,
Make my service fruitful, O Lord of the world.
Whoever sings the aarti of Surya Dev,
All sorrow and poverty shall be erased; happiness and prosperity shall come.
The offering of water to the rising sun (Surya Arghya) while reciting this prayer is among the most ancient Hindu practices:
Om Suryaaya Namah. Om Aadityaaya Namah. Om Namo Bhagavate Shri Suryaaya Namah.
Meaning: "I bow to Surya. I bow to Aditya. I bow to the divine Lord Surya."
The seven horses (Sapta Ashva) of Surya's chariot represent the seven colors of visible light (VIBGYOR) or the seven days of the week. The charioteer is Aruna (the rosy-red dawn), and the chariot has a single wheel representing the year. The twelve Adityas (solar deities) represent the twelve months.
Best time: At sunrise (the most powerful time), Sundays (Ravivar), Chhath Puja (Bihar festival), and during solar eclipses when special protective mantras are recited.
Offerings: Red flowers (especially red hibiscus), red sandalwood, wheat, jaggery, and water offered facing east at sunrise.
