Jai Hanuman Aarti

Complete Jai Hanuman Aarti with lyrics in Hindi and English translation

Jai Hanuman Aarti

Lord Hanuman — the devoted servant of Rama, the embodiment of selfless service (seva), strength, and devotion (bhakti) — is worshipped for courage, protection from evil, and removal of obstacles. He is considered a chiranjivi (immortal) who still roams the earth wherever the name of Rama is sung. This aarti follows the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa.

Hindi (Devanagari)

English Translation (Meaning)

Perform the aarti of the beloved Hanuman,

He is the power of Raghunath (Rama) that destroys the wicked.

By whose strength the great mountains tremble,

Near whom diseases and faults dare not approach.

Son of Anjani, supremely powerful,

Ever the helper of the saints and devotees.

Sent forth on mission by Raghunath (Rama),

He burned Lanka and brought news of Sita.

Lanka had walls like fortresses and a moat like the ocean,

The son of Pavan (Hanuman) crossed it without a moment's delay.

He burned Lanka and destroyed the demons,

And fulfilled the mission of Siyaram (Rama and Sita).

When Lakshmana lay unconscious at dawn,

He brought the Sanjeevani herb and restored his life.

He entered the netherworld and broke the bonds of Yama (death),

And uprooted the arms of the demon Ahiravana.

With his left arm he destroys the armies of demons,

With his right arm he saves the assembly of saints.

Gods, men, and sages perform his aarti,

Crying "Victory, Victory, Victory to Hanuman!"

A golden plate is spread with camphor light,

Mother Anjana herself performs the aarti.

Whoever sings the aarti of Hanuman,

Shall dwell in Vaikuntha and attain the supreme state.

Raghurai (Rama) devastated Lanka,

Tulsidas sings the glory of his Lord.

Significance

Hanuman represents the ideal devotee — completely surrendered, fearless, and wholly dedicated to his Lord. His image is placed at boundaries and entrances because he is the guardian who repels negative forces. The Tuesday fast (Mangalvar vrat) is observed in his honor, and red vermilion (sindoor) is offered as he is said to have smeared sindoor all over his body out of love for Rama.

Best time: Tuesdays and Saturdays, after Hanuman Chalisa recitation, during Rama Navami and Hanuman Jayanti (Chaitra Purnima).
