जय सरस्वती माता आरती
Goddess Saraswati is the deity of knowledge, learning, music, art, wisdom, and speech. She is the consort of Brahma and is depicted in white, seated on a white lotus, holding a veena (lute), a book, and a rosary. This aarti is especially sung on Vasant Panchami (Saraswati Puja) and before examinations.

Victory to Mother Saraswati! Victory to Mother Saraswati!
She who is adorned with all virtues and splendor, renowned throughout the three worlds.
Moon-faced, lotus-seated, radiant and auspicious,
Beautifully mounted on her sacred swan, bearer of incomparable brilliance.
Veena (lute) in the left hand, rosary in the right hand,
Crown adorned with jewels on her head, necklace of pearls around her neck.
Divine Sharada (Saraswati), resplendent in white,
Beloved deity of Manu and the sages, adorned with gestures of boon-granting and fearlessness.
Bestower of learning and knowledge, illuminator of wisdom, O Mother,
Remove attachment and ignorance; O Mother, you illuminate the world.
Blessed, truly blessed are you, O Mother, you are most beloved,
Cast your merciful glance upon me; I am heavy with ignorance.
Remove all the obstacles of birth after birth,
Take us across the ocean of worldly existence, O auspicious Mother.
Saraswati's white garments and white lotus seat symbolize purity of knowledge. Her four hands represent the four aspects of the human personality in learning: mind (manas), intellect (buddhi), alertness (chitta), and ego (ahamkara). The swan beside her represents the ability to discriminate between the real and unreal (viveka).
Best time: Vasant Panchami (January–February), before study, before music or artistic practice, and on Wednesdays. Students place their books before Saraswati on Vasant Panchami for her blessing.
Offerings: White flowers (especially white jasmine), white sweets, milk, honey, and saraswati yantra.
