The Lakshmi Aarti is sung during Diwali puja, Fridays, and all prosperity-seeking worship. Goddess Lakshmi (Mahalakshmi) is the consort of Vishnu and the goddess of wealth, fortune, beauty, and prosperity. She emerged from the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan) and is depicted seated on a lotus flower, flanked by white elephants.

Om, victory to Lakshmi, Mother! Victory to Mother Lakshmi!
Hari (Vishnu), the Creator, serves you day and night.
Uma (Parvati), Rama (Lakshmi), Brahmani — you are the Mother of the Universe,
The Sun and Moon meditate upon you; the sage Narada sings your praises.
In the form of Durga, you are the pure bestower of happiness and wealth,
Whoever meditates on you attains prosperity, supernatural powers, and riches.
You dwell in the netherworld; you alone are the giver of auspiciousness,
You illuminate the effects of karma; you are the savior from the ocean of worldly existence.
In whatever home you reside, all virtuous qualities come there,
Everything becomes possible; the mind is not troubled.
Without you, no sacrifice takes place, no one obtains clothes,
The glory of food and sustenance — all comes from you.
Beautiful temple of auspicious virtues, born of the ocean of milk (Ksheera Sagara),
Without you, none can obtain the fourteen precious gems.
Whoever sings the aarti of Mahalakshmi,
Their heart is filled with joy and their sins are washed away.
Goddess Lakshmi represents eight forms of prosperity known as Ashta-Lakshmi: Adi Lakshmi (primordial), Dhana Lakshmi (wealth), Dhanya Lakshmi (grain/food), Gaja Lakshmi (royal/elephants), Santana Lakshmi (children), Veera Lakshmi (courage), Vijaya Lakshmi (victory), and Vidya Lakshmi (knowledge and wisdom).
Best time to sing: Fridays (Shukravar), Diwali evening puja, and during any Vaibhav Lakshmi or Satyanarayan puja.
Offerings: Lotus flowers, white flowers, rice, yellow turmeric, coconut, sweets — especially kheer (rice pudding) and panchamrit.
