The eighteenth nakshatra, spanning 16°40'–30° Vrishchika. Ruled by Mercury (Budha) and presided over by Indra, king of the gods. Symbolized by a circular talisman or earring. Jyeshtha represents seniority, protection, authority, and the capacity to handle difficult responsibilities.
